The Oregon Board of Psychologist Examiners oversees the affairs of psychologists in the state. The board bases licensure qualifications on educational, examination, and experience considerations.

Candidates are expected to have a doctoral-level education to receive a full license. Applicants with a Master’s degree can only work in assisting and research positions with a Psychologist Associate license.

Once they receive a doctoral degree, they may complete the supervised practice requirements, during which time they will be working under provisional licensing. To complete this step, candidates must receive 1,500 hours of experience in at least 12 months.

Lastly, eligible candidates must take the Professional Practice in Psychology Examination. This national examination has a $600 exam fee.

The state also requires candidates to pass a $150 jurisprudence exam to complete their licensing process.
