Licensure & Certification

The Idaho Board of Psychologist Examiners regulates licensure requirements for psychologists in Idaho. The board specifies that anyone who wants to work as a professional psychologist in the state must complete a doctorate program and pass the board examination.

Psychologists in the state who have completed a master’s degree program can work under supervision until they meet the educational requirements to become licensed independently. The educational requirements include completing an accredited program from a regionally accredited school and two years of supervised professional experience.

Those who meet these requirements can then submit a written request to the board to apply for the licensing examination. The exam incurs an application fee of $200 and an administrative fee of $25.

Along with the state examination, psychologists in Idaho are also expected to pass the national Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology. Applying for this exam costs $600.
